Lean Manufacturing at R-Anell Modular Homes

What is lean manufacturing? It is a cultural attitude about reducing and eliminating waste throughout the operation with the main focus on what the customer wants. The modular home industry has always been striving toward lean manufacturing; it just did not have a name. The goal is to produce the very best house at the lowest cost possible. The ability to achieve this goal is what lean manufacturing is all about.
What do we mean by waste? Waste is anything that does not add value to the product. Lean manufacturing has identified eight wastes that occur in any operation, not just manufacturing. These are:

  1. Excess Inventory
  2. Over-production
  3. Transportation (unnecessary handling)
  4. Waiting (idle time)
  5. Motions that do not add value
  6. Over-processing
  7. Correction (scrap and rework)
  8. Not using your human resources

The goal of lean manufacturing is to eliminate these wastes where possible and reduce them where elimination is not possible.

What does this mean to you, the customer? R-Anell is committed to utilizing lean manufacturing to provide you the best quality home at the best price, on time.
