R-Anell is "Building it Green"

The latest R-Anell Multi-Family project was just completed in Asheville, North Carolina. The State Street City Homes project was designed to incorporate the Green building practices and requirements of the Western North Carolina Region Green Building Council. Joel Crump of Renaissance Builders said; “This is a healthy built home project. The project has a well sealed building "envelope," meaning it is air tight and has a high insulation value.” This practice reduces the amount of energy the homes require, reduces the amount of resources consumed and the heating and cooling costs for the homeowners.

The project was certified to be Green by a third-party consultant, Amy Musser, Ph.D., Vandemusser Design. "It's exciting to work with a builder, developer and a manufacturer that are committed to Green building." This was the first multi-family modular project that Amy certified as being Green. The homes were reviewed for the Green building standards that are required by organizations such as ENERGY STAR®.

The builders took a number of items into consideration, everything from low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints and fluorescent light bulbs to low maintenance plants and grasses that will require very little water.
